FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – One person is dead after a crash in downtown Fort Wayne on Sunday.
The Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the intersection of Clinton and E. Baker streets around 5:48 p.m. to find a man in a wheelchair in critical condition after the crash. Officers started life saving measures when they arrived.
The man was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the vehicle involved is cooperating with officers.
At this time police know that it was raining heavily, and the wheelchair was crossing Clinton street when he was struck.
The crash remains under investigation by the FWPD Fatal Accident Crash Team, Air Support Unit, Allen County Prosecutor’s Office, and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
