NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WFSB) – The Foo Fighters are taking the stage tonight for a surprise show in New Haven.
The band announced the pop-up performance yesterday, sending fans of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band into a frenzy.
“I was in Hamden, and I got a phone call at like 3:10, 3:15, ‘We’re lining up for Foo Fighters tickets at Toads.’ And I ran as fast as I could down here,” said Kenny Hellyar, New Haven.
“Her and my mom called me, and we booked it down to New Haven super fast,” said Anthony Cozzi. “So excited I called my mom, ‘Mom, I got them!”
The show is taking place at Toad’s Place on York Street, known as the place “where legends play.”
Tickets for the show, at just $30, sold out in just a few hours.
“I saw them for the first time in 2023 in Asbury Park. I saw them again last summer at City Field in Queens, so this will be my 3rd time. I’m really excited,” said Violet Forcino.
The Foo Fighters have been playing some surprise shows in advance of a fall tour that starts overseas next month.
Fans rushed to get tickets, and some are camping out so they can get the best spot inside when the doors open.
Toad’s Place can hold roughly 900 people, giving these fans a chance to see the band in such an intimate venue.
“Hopefully we’re going to be right there, close enough we might be able to touch them. That’s what you want. Fans like engagement,” said Billy Safe, Seymour. “Very big fan. We saw them in Bridgeport. We’re excited to see them again tonight. It’s going to be a nice, intimate show.”
“Last time I saw them the show got cut short. Citi Field had rain. It’s exciting to see them this close. Full show, full experience,” said Anthony Cozzi.
The Foo Fighters are expected to take the stage at 9 p.m.
