No one mourns the wicked, but we’ll be mourning Wicked. Part two of Jon M. Chu’s Wicked movies, titled Wicked: For Good, just dropped its final trailer, and we’re already sad that there will be no more Wicked trailers. Think of all the fun times we’ve had, with the riffs, and the overanalyzing, and that random little diva playing drums. We miss hearing small portions of Cynthia Erivo absolutely wailing on a classic song already.
The final trailer, as it turns out, is much more focused on Ariana Grande’s Glinda than it is on Erivo’s Elphaba. Glinda is in her popular form — the teaser begins with her receiving her bubble transport from Madame Morrible. We see shots of her wedding to Fiyero, fighting Elphaba with words (“I’m a public figure now,” she claims), then going at it broom-to-wand. Finally, the trailer ends with her whispering to Elphaba, “Think of what we could do, together.”
That’s not to say that the green goddess gets the short shrift. Most importantly, we hear a little bit of Erivo’s version of Act Two banger “No Good Deed.” We don’t know how she sings the word “Fiyero” yet, but some surprises are best left for the theater. The trailer also teases some added moments between the two leads, including one where Elphaba tells Glinda, “Look at me … not with your eyes … with theirs,” which should feed the Gelphie shippers. There’s also a cut to some metal guy learning that he’s become a man made of tin. While we get Cowardly Lion’s face while confronting the Wizard, and a bit of Dorothy’s dress, will we eventually get to see more of the visitor from Kansas? Wicked: For Good debuts in Technicolor theaters on November 21.
