Steward Partners, an employee-owned financial services firm, announced that it has relocated its corporate headquarters from New York City to Stamford.

The wealth management company recently leased 8,147 square feet on the 10th floor of an office tower at 400 Atlantic St. Fifteen employees are based out of the location, a spokesperson said.

The move comes as Steward Partners seeks to position itself for continued growth while maintaining access to the New York financial market, according to company officials.

“New York City was the right home when we expanded Steward Partners into the region in 2014,” said Hy Saporta, Steward Partners’s co-founder, president and chief operating officer. “Over the past decade, we’ve experienced extraordinary growth in adviser headcount and leadership, and it became clear that Stamford offers a more strategic, efficient and scalable solution for our next chapter.”

The company will continue operating its New York office to serve local partners and clients.

Saporta cited Stamford’s proximity to New York City, business-friendly environment and access to financial services talent as factors in the decision. The city has become a popular destination for financial firms seeking alternatives to Manhattan’s higher costs.

Founded in 2013, Steward Partners provides wealth management services to families, businesses and institutional investors.

The firm managed more than $43 billion in client assets as of July. It operates as an independent registered investment adviser with offices across multiple states.

The company has experienced rapid growth in recent years, earning recognition on industry rankings including Barron’s Top 100 RIA Firms list and Inc. magazine’s list of fastest-growing private companies.
