Infinitus Systems has launched its model context protocol (MCP) server, which aims to address the issue of healthcare data fragmentation and facilitate standardised AI interoperability.

This technology seeks to automate administrative workflows, including benefit verification and prior authorisation processes.

Healthcare data continues to be fragmented across various platforms, such as phone calls, faxes, APIs, and portals. This fragmentation creates administrative burdens for providers and hinders timely access to patient treatment.

The Infinitus MCP server facilitates reliable communication between AI agents and healthcare systems, thereby automating time-sensitive workflows.

Infinitus CEO and co-founder Ankit Jain said: “MCP is to AI what FHIR is to healthcare IT. It creates the foundation for interoperability, so AI agents can safely and effectively take action in the real world.

“By building an MCP server, we’ve made it possible for healthcare organisations to connect their existing APIs and data flows into our trusted AI ecosystem, without the cost or risk of reinventing their infrastructure.”

Created by Anthropic, the MCP standard allows AI agents and large language models to utilise services and external tools via clearly defined protocols.

Infinitus builds upon this innovation in the healthcare sector by automating manual tasks, including eligibility checks, benefit verification, and follow-up for prior authorisations.

The system enhances interoperability by presenting Infinitus’ APIs as MCP tools via FHIR and OpenAPI methodologies. It guarantees scalability, featuring an architecture designed for intricate, regulated healthcare workflows.

Infinitus’ AI agents have automated over seven million clinical and administrative phone calls. The MCP server enables its customers to enhance these capabilities by integrating them into additional systems and processes using straightforward, natural language queries.

The company has secured more than $100m in funding from investors such as Kleiner Perkins, Google Ventures, Coatue Management and Andreessen Horowitz.

“Infinitus introduces healthcare AI interoperability server” was originally created and published by Hospital Management, a GlobalData owned brand.
