CAMDEN, N.J. — The Philadelphia 76ers are in the process of trying to come up with the right deal to bring back Quentin Grimes in restricted free agency. The Sixers are currently short-handed as they deal with the Jared McCain injury, and need to find a way to bring back Grimes.

One way to do so is to shed some salary and one name that has popped up in trade rumors for the Sixers is the reliable Kelly Oubre Jr. The versatile forward has a tradeable salary and his game is attractive for a lot of teams as he is reliable on the floor as well as being a good leader in the locker room.

Oubre recently responded to the trade rumors on social media as he expressed his displeasure with the way the fan base has not appreciated what he brings to the table. He explained why he made that post at media day on Friday.

“Well, I’m not gonna apologize for the things that I say, because nobody’s gonna do the same to me, but at the end of the day, it was just an accumulation of lack thereof discussion or trying to ex me out of the equation and I’m here,” Oubre said succinctly. “I’m all in. I wear this jersey for a reason, because I want to, so therefore it was just kind of like the fan pages and all the people who represent the Sixers, not in this building, of course. It was just something to just let you guys know that I’m still here.”

Oubre averaged 15.1 points and 6.1 rebounds along with 1.5 steals in the 2024-25 season. He is a good fit on this Sixers team due to his downhill scoring and movement off the ball to find open spots on the floor. He’s also a more than solid defender and he can rebound the basketball and make big plays. He still wants to help the Sixers succeed.

“I’m not here to fit in,” he finished. “I’m here to stand out and help this team the best that I possibly can. So that’s all I’m gonna say about that, but yeah. I’m looking forward to this year. I’m looking forward to growing and continue to helping everybody else grow and develop and just being the best version of myself for this team and this organization and this city. So yeah, I’m here.”
