Jalen Brunson arrived for his fourth training camp as a Knick a bit lighter.
The Knicks’ captain wouldn’t reveal his exact weight, but did say he dropped a few pounds this summer.
“It was important for me to be a little lighter just throughout the course of the season,” Brunson said after practice Friday. “Not even being lighter, I’m not that much lighter, definitely more toned and like that. But it’s just important for me to get my body in the best shape possible I can and go from there.”

With the Knicks expected to play at a faster tempo this season, it should only help Brunson to be down in weight.
“It’s all about adapting,” he said.
OG Anunoby already had a relationship with new coach Mike Brown before the Knicks hired him to replace Tom Thibodeau.
Brown, coaching the Nigerian national team in the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo (played in 2021), tried to recruit Anunoby to play for the team.
Anunoby wound up not participating, partly because of the complications of the event happening in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, but they remained in touch.
“I was excited,” he said of Brown landing the job. “I’ve known Mike for some years now. I was excited when I found out he was the coach. We talked pretty quickly, just about everything, not even basketball, but life stuff.”
Brown is thrilled to be able to coach him.
“He’s a really great guy, a fantastic guy, and he does have some personality. Sometimes he lets it out,” Brown said with a smirk. “Sometimes he doesn’t.”
Later in the year, a Brunson sneaker will be released, called the Jalen Brunson x the Nike Kobe 6 “Statue of Liberty.” His mom, Sandra, and Bryant’s sister, Sharia Washington, were college volleyball teammates and roommates at Temple.
“It means the world. It means the world to me to be able to wear his shoe and have a little bit of input on it as well,” he said. “Really excited to have this opportunity. His family is amazing. Just really thankful.”
