A beloved 90s actress was seen with what appeared to be apparent bruising on her face during a rare outing in Los Angeles this week. 

Jennifer Rhodes, 78, has had a successful career in both the film and television industry – and is known for portraying Penny ‘Grams’ Halliwell in the fantasy drama series Charmed. 

The star held a small smile as she stepped out of a vehicle while out on Wednesday – although it is not clear if the bruising on her face was stage makeup for an upcoming role. 

Daily Mail has reached out to her reps for comment but did not immediately hear back.

Rhodes donned a striped blouse as well as black trousers and sandals for the rare excursion. 

She was born in the state of Illinois in 1947 and later moved to New York after graduating from college where she was cast in theater productions.

The actress later moved to the city of Los Angeles and eventually was cast in commercials. 

Rhodes then jumped into the world of TV and film with her first role being in the Western drama series The High Chaparral in 1971. 

She continued to play minor characters in a number of projects, and was given an uncredited role as a psych ward nurse in the 1978 horror film Halloween – starring Jamie Lee Curtis. 

Throughout the 80s, Rhodes also took on more guest roles in television shows such as General Hospital and Little House On The Prairie. 

In 1988, the actress played Winona Ryder’s mom in the teen dark comedy Heathers alongside other stars such as Christian Slater and the late Shannen Doherty.

Rhodes appeared in a variety of TV shows in the 90s including Full House, Party Of Five, ER, Wings, Murphy Brown, 3rd Rock From The Sun, Friends and also Ally McBeal. 

She played Penny ‘Grams’ Halliwell in the series Charmed over the span of 14 episodes from 1999 through 2006. 

The star worked alongside other cast members including Shannen Doherty, Holly Marie Combs, Alyssa Milano, Rose McGowan and Brian Krause.

During its time on the air, Charmed raked in a numerous award nominations, such as a Teen Choice Award nod for Television – Choice Drama. 

The show also garnered Best Actress and Best Network Television series nominations at the Saturn Awards. 

Rhodes further portrayed minor guest roles in shows including Gilmore Girls, Cold Case, Boston Public, The Young And The Restless and The Mentalist. 

She appeared on the hit Disney channel series The Suite Life On Deck when she played Mrs. McCracken in one episode in 2009. 

Her most recent roles included a one episode stint on Grace And Frankie in 2019 as well as a 2022 episode of NCIS.

She plays the character of Mary Murphy in the legal drama alongside Conor Kowalski, Tammy Blanchard, Richard Portnow, Carson Rowland and Lynn Adrianna Freedman. 

The premise is: ‘A teenage boy named Jasper rescues a dairy calf, Henry, who becomes his best friend and only family. When three other young men attack Henry, Jasper defends him and ends up in court facing a life sentence.
