Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen is said to be considering going under the knife to cure a back problem that has been affecting the stopper.
The Germany international has been training away from the squad in the first few days of pre-season, and it’s claimed the back problem is the reason why.
According to Diario Sport, if Ter Stegen does decide to go down the surgical route he will be ruled out of action for four months.
It’s therefore a really big decision for the goalkeeper to make as it would keep him out of action until the end of the year.
Ter Stegen is also currently considering his future after being told by Hansi Flick he is no longer the No. 1 at Barcelona following the arrival of Joan Garcia.
The report speculates that if he does undergo surgery, he could then look for a team in the January transfer market where he could play the second half of the season.
Ter Stegen knows he needs to be playing in the run-up to World Cup 2026 if he is to keep his spot as Germany’s No.1.
