West Palm Beach, Fla (CBS12) — Tropical Storm Imelda is located east of our area, and will stay offshore as it moves north.

Imelda has winds of 45 mph and is moving north at 8 mph. It is expected to strengthen a bit and could become a hurricane on Tuesday.

The storm will stay off of our coastline today, but will bring rough conditions along our coast and beaches.

A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for our offshore waters.

We have a High Surf Advisory is in effect for the Treasure Coast. There is also a Wind Advisory in effect for Martin, St. Lucie and Indian River County today.

Winds will be out of the northeast, sustained near 20-25 mph. Higher gusts near 30 mph are expected.

Brief downpours are possible today with the outer rain bands moving onshore. Highs are in the mid 80s.

The rain chance drops a bit tomorrow, but rough conditions along the coast will continue.
