Kris Wright will make his return to the NASCAR National Series action this weekend at the Charlotte ROVAL racing in the Craftsman Truck Series, McAnally–Hilgemann Racing.

The 30-year-old will drive MHR’s No. 16 Truck in his first Craftsman Truck Series start of the season. This truck has only two starts this season, both with Christian Eckes behind the wheel. In 47 career starts in the Truck Series, Wright has finished no higher than 12th, having done so on two occasions.

Wright was initially set to race full-time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series with Our Motorsports this season. This arrangement would not go according to plan, with Wright having a tough start to the season, often mired in on-track incidents and some off-track controversy.

With an average finish of 27.4 and just one top-ten finish, this deal came to an end after just 18 races. On Jul. 15, Wright was removed from the entry list and replaced with Kaz Grala at Dover Motor Speedway, with Our announcing its impending closure shortly after making this move.

Since then, Wright has landed on his feet in familiar ground, the ARCA Menards Series, racing with a familiar team, Venturini Motorsports. As part of a three-race deal, Wright had two top fives and two top tens, finishing no higher than third.
