Mount Saint Mary women’s basketball is going to get a taste of Puerto Rico ahead of the Christmas holiday.

The Knights will take on the University of Redlands, from California, on December 17 and upstate Alfred University on Dec. 18 in the D3 Clasico – that event will host 17 NCAA Division III women’s teams from Dec. 16-30.

The defending Skyline Conference playoff champs, the Mount will open the third season for head coach Marion Dietz on Nov. 7 at SUNY New Paltz. SUNY Brockport visits the Kaplan Center for the first of a dozen home games on Nov. 14.

The Mount will host fellow NCAA Div. III tourney participant Vassar on Nov. 29.

Last season Mount Saint Mary was 15-5 and finished second in the Skyline. The Knights (17-11) beat Mount Saint Vincent in the semifinals and won at top-seeded U.S. Merchant Marine Academy 81-76 in the final. In the NCAAs, the Mount bowed at powerhouse Scranton 93-35.

The Knights will be considerably younger in 2025-26, with seven incoming freshmen and six upperclassmen.

The Knights will host Merchant Marine on Jan. 15 and play at the Mariners on Feb. 4.

The Mount has not won consecutive Skyline playoff titles since 2011 and 2012, the last of 12 titles won under former coach Randy Ognibene.
