LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — The Las Vegas Aces return to familiar territory on Friday as they prepare to host Game 1 of the WNBA Finals.

Las Vegas will take on the Phoenix Mercury at Michelob ULTRA Arena. Tipoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.

This marks the third trip to the finals for the Aces in the last four seasons, and their fourth trip dating back to 2020. The team won back-to-back titles in 2022 and 2023 over Connecticut and New York, respectively.

While the Finals experience isn’t new, this year’s series will mark the first time the WNBA championship is decided in a best-of-seven series. The WNBA Finals were previously decided in five games, dating back to 2005.

The Aces will host Game 1 on Friday and Game 2 on Sunday, Oct. 5. The series shifts to Phoenix for Games 3 and 4 on Wednesday and Friday, Oct. 8 and 10.

Both teams would return to Las Vegas for Game 5 on Sunday, Oct. 12, if necessary. Game 6 would be played in Phoenix on Wednesday, Oct. 15, and a potential winner-take-all Game 7 would be in Las Vegas on Friday, Oct. 17.

These two teams last faced off in the postseason in the first round in 2022. The Aces defeated the Mercury 2-0 en route to their first championship.
