Taylor Swift is not above making a joke at her expense!
Over a month after announcing the title of her 12th studio album The Life of a Showgirl alongside fiancé Travis Kelce and his brother Jason Kelce on their New Heights podcast, the pop megastar revealed new variants, including The Crowd is Your King Edition on Summertime Spritz Pink Shimmer Vinyl, which will be available exclusively at Target.
In a video posted to Instagram on Monday, Sept. 29, that showed her “directing” herself, a megaphone-touting Swift, 35, poked fun at her demeanor as she promoted the sparkly edition of the album, which arrives on Friday, Oct. 3.
“All right, we are still rolling, we’re gonna try this again, okay? We’re elegant. We’re luxurious. We’re in front of the most beautiful pink vinyl we’ve ever seen,” she began.

As the camera pivoted to Swift in showgirl garb, posing next to the album and tossing glitter into the air, her “director” version told her model self, “What is going on with the posture? It’s giving ‘No, girl,’ not showgirl. What are we doing? Elegance! Charm! Not that.”
“She’s got cat hair all over her,” director Swift told someone off camera. “Is there a school we could very quickly send her to? Come on, honey, this is show business.”
At 12:12 a.m. E.T. on Aug. 12, a video clip for the New Heights podcast was shared to Instagram, which featured Swift asking, “Can I show you something?”
Jason, 37, replied, “Okay. What do we got? We got a briefcase? Mint green, with T.S. on it,” to which Swift added, “Yup.”
The NFL alum then asked the “Down Bad” artist what was in the briefcase. “This is my brand-new album, The Life of a Showgirl,” she replied — however, in the video clip, the cover remained hidden.
Swift’s website then began to feature the cryptic orange-and-green blurred album cover, alongside options to purchase vinyl, cassette and CD versions. According to the site, the CD edition will come with a poster. At the time, the track list for the album was not revealed.
Featured behind Swift in the video were several books with orange covers, including ones featuring works of artists like Jean-Michel Basquiat, Marc Chagall and Ruth Asawa.
On Aug. 11, Swift shared a countdown to her website, which expired at 12:12 a.m. E.T. The countdown featured a shimmery orange backdrop, with a cryptic clock in mint-green lettering.
The countdown appeared alongside confirmation that the “Fortnight” hitmaker would be the guest on New Heights on Aug. 13.
The Life of a Showgirl is out Friday, Oct. 3.
