2Q, 5:48 — Arkansas State 10,  Texas State 10

A swing pass to running back Greg Burrell goes for one yard. Jackson finds Sparks for 24 yards, their best play since early in the first quarter. Burrell bounces off tackles for 14 yards, and the Bobcats are moving.

A 33-yard touchdown run by Burrell is called back due to holding on left tackle Dorion Strawn. A three-yard catch by tight end Ty Stamey, but Sparks drops the following pass. On third-and-14, Jackson finds wide receiver Mavin Anderson for a clutch 18-yard completion. After three straight runs, Texas State settles for a field goal. 

2Q, 10:29 — Arkansas State 10,  Texas State 7

Raynor finds wide receiver Corey Rucker for 25 yards, and Arkansas State is threatening again. After a three-yard rush by Raynor, linebacker Michael Boudoin slams the quarterback to the turf for an 11-yard loss. The 51-yard field goal is good. 

2Q, 13:35 — Texas State 7, Arkansas State 7

The Bobcats make a stand on third down, with Canden Grogan breaking up a pass and forcing a punt. The ensuing attempt takes a bid Arkansas State bounce, pinning Texas State on its one-yard line.

Jackson’s attempt to Sparks is to the outside shoulder, despite the wide receiver seemingly running toward the middle of the field. Pare is nearly tackled for a safety after slipping on a run. Jackson’s third-down pass sails over Dawn’s head, and Texas State has to punt.

Arkansas State will be facing third-and-3 at the start of the second quarter.

Pare is stuffed on the first two plays of the drive. Jackson’s throw to Sparks is broken up, but he wouldn’t have had the first down anyway.

1Q, 2:04 — Texas State 7, Arkansas State 7

Cobb gets Arkansas State’s biggest play of the day, catching a pass and taking it 24 yards into Texas State territory. Terrell gets another breakup after a lot of contact. But Raynor uses his legs to pick up 33 yards on the ground, and the Red Wolves are threatening in the red zone. Texas State defensive end DonTerry Russell suffers an injury but walks off the field under his own power.

Linebacker Terrence Cooks Jr. gets a run stuff and then nearly picks off Raynor on the following pass. On third down, the quarterback uses his legs to find the endzone from 13 yards out.

1Q, 4:09 — Texas State 7, Arkansas State 0

A dose of Pare this drive, who records an eight-yard and a nine-yard catch. Jackson misses an open Sparks badly on the following pass. After a four-yard rush, the quarterback misses Sparks on a deep pass to the left. The Red Wolves will begin their next drive on their own 20-yard line.

1Q, 6:59 — Texas State 7, Arkansas State 0

Jackson misses a wide-open Kylen Evans on first down that would’ve been an easy six points. Running back Jaylen Jenkins gets his first carry of the game for four yards. A holding call brings a first down conversion back 10 yards. 

A crosser to Dawn doesn’t convert, and punter David Nunez launches one to the Arkansas State 15-yard line.

Cornerback Khamari Terrell deflects Raynor’s second pass of the game. The quarterback rushes for four yards, then completes a pass to Hunter Summer for a first down. Texas State defensive tackle Devarrick Woods follows it up with a seven-yard sack, and Arkansas State’s third-down pass to Chauncy Cobb comes up short.

1Q, 11:48 — Texas State 7, Arkansas State 0

Arkansas State running back Devin Spencer is stuffed for one and two yards on the first two plays of the game. Texas State safety Ryan Nolan thne nearly picks off Arkansas State quarterback Jaylen Raynor. The Redwolves shank the punt, and it’s downed on the Bobcats’ 44-yard line.

1Q, 13:01 — Texas State 7, Arkansas State 0

Texas State wins the toss and chooses to have the ball first. Jackson completes his first pass to Chris Dawn Jr., who nearly takes it to the house but his toe touches the sideline, bringing the ball back. 

Jackson has the offense humming, completing his first three passes until an attempt to Dawn falls incomplete. On the very next play, Jackson scrambles out of the pocket and outruns every defender for a 24-yard touchdown.
