For the first time in the 2025 college football season, the UW Huskies are getting recognized by the voters for the weekly Associated Press top 25 poll.
UW picked up 10 points in the voting for Sunday’s new poll. It’s not much, as the Huskies are essentially the No. 35 team in the poll, but it is a start.
Washington improved to 4-1 on the season Saturday with a 24-20 comeback victory at Maryland. The Huskies stormed back from a 20-point deficit in the third quarter to hand the Terrapins their first loss of the year.
UW is just eight days removed from losing 24-6 at home to the No. 1-ranked, defending national champion Ohio State Buckeyes. While the Huskies were held out of the end zone, they kept it a one-score game going into the fourth quarter before Ohio State pulled away with its final 10 points.
The Huskies will be back in action quickly, hosting Rutgers (3-2) at 6 p.m. Friday in a game that will on FS1.
Washington’s chief rival in the Big Ten, the 5-0 Oregon Ducks, fell a spot in Sunday’s AP poll to No. 3 after having the week off from play.
