Lola Young is taking a break after a scary onstage collapse over the weekend.
The 24-year-old British singer-songwriter announced on her Instagram, “I’m going away for a while. It pains me to say I have to cancel everything for the foreseeable future.”
She continued, “Thank you for a all the love and support. I’m so sorry to let anyone down who has bought a ticket to see me, it hurts me more than you know. Obviously you will be entitled to a full refund.”
“I really hope you’ll give me a second chance once I’ve had some time to work on myself and come back stronger,” she concluded. “Love you all, Lola x.”
The “Messy” singer was scheduled to perform through next June across the U.S. and the U.K.
Lola’s decision to take a break comes after she collapsed on stage mid-performance at the All Things Go Music Festival in N.Y.C on Sept. 27.
According to People Magazine, she told the audience during her set she had “a tricky couple of days,” saying that “sometimes life can really make you feel like you can’t continue.”
She continued, saying she decided to continue with her performance. “Sometimes life can throw you lemons, and you just gotta make lemonade.”
Lola reassured fans on her Instagram stories she was “doing OK now” after the incident.
The singer has been open about her mental health and addiction struggles in the past, telling The Guardian earlier this year, “It makes you more empathetic about other people that have gone through that. It’s just a constant journey.”
