Ohio State men’s basketball coach Jake Diebler and his staff threw open the doors of the Schottenstein Center on Saturday afternoon to allow fans to come in and watch the team practice.

The two-hour practice saw the team participate in fundamental and defensive drills before dividing up for a spirited five-on-five session.

Two of the team’s expected starters in forwards Devin Royal and Brandon Noel missed the practice due to mild ankle sprains.

There were plenty of highlights otherwise, with 7-foot center Christoph Tilly showing off his three-point stroke, guard John Mobley Jr. also hitting a handful of threes, guard Taison Chatman being fully healthy and returning center Ivan Njegovan showing some improvement in the paint.

We have photos and a video of a portion of the five-on-five session below.

Diebler will be joined by Mobley, Royal, Tilly and guard Bruce Thornton in Chicago on Thursday for the Big Ten preseason media days.

The team will host Ohio for an exhibition on Sun., Oct. 26. That exhibition will tip off at 2 p.m. and will be webcast by Big Ten Network-Plus. The regular season opens Mon., Nov. 3, against IU-Indianapolis. Game times and television assignments will be announced at a later date.
