A band of thunderstorms is slowly moving across the southern Lower Peninsula, producing heavy rain along its path on Tuesday, Oct. 7, could impact the Detroit Tigers playoff baseball game later today.

There is a chance of thunderstorms today, mainly this morning and early this afternoon. Locally heavy rain will be possible with any thunderstorm that develops. Storm motion will be southwest to northeast at 35 mph,” the National Weather Service in Grand Rapids said.

In southeast Michigan, there is a chance of thunderstorms today, mainly in the morning and early afternoon, the Detroit weather office said. The storms are moving along the front to the northeast at about 35 mph, the NWS said.

Hazardous weather outlooks are in place for the entire Lower Peninsula for the thunderstorms and potential for frost in northern areas tonight.

Baseball fans gathering downtown Detroit to watch the Detroit Tigers play the Seattle Mariners at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, at Comerica Park may need to take a blanket and raincoat. The National Weather Forecast shows a cooler high of around 60 degrees by 5 p.m. with more rain possible before 8 p.m. and a low of around 46 degrees.
