NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) – The North Charleston Police Department is investigating a body that was found near a technical college Tuesday evening.
Officers were dispatched in reference to a reported body being discovered at the 2000 block of Mabeline Drive. Upon arrival, they met with Trident Technical Public Safety Officers and a person, a Charleston County tree warden, who originally discovered the body.
The tree warden was originally looking for a specific plant in the woods when he suddenly walked upon the body and called 911, according to police spokesman Harve Jacobs.
Police believed that upon arrival, it was apparent that the person had been pronounced dead for “quite some time.”
The Charleston Crime Scene, the Charleston County Rescue and the Charleston County Coroner’s Office all responded to the incident. The person’s identity has not yet been released.
