Manchester United’s academy is jam-packed with talent right now, which means there simply aren’t enough minutes to go around.

For years, Manchester United had fallen into the trap of keeping players in the youth ranks too long, as some youngsters spent multiple campaigns in the U21 side, instead of heading out and getting first-team experience.

This, in turn, meant players in an age group down were unable to move up, and therefore, the pipeline was clogged. In addition, when United were sending players out on loan, they were often placed badly and failed.

However, with Jonny Evans appointed as the new loan manager, many young players have already made their loan exits from United this summer, and there is hope they will be more successful.

With Ruben Amorim only taking a couple of youngsters on pre-season, we expect a lot more loans for players aged 18 to 20 this summer, and among them will be some players who just last season looked close to a first-team debut.

Last season, Jack Moorhouse was making up for lost time at United after missing 431 days through injury.

Upon his return, Moorhouse immediately impressed for the U21s as Amorim watched on and as a result got first-team exposure.

However, now his future appears to be on loan.

Having not been spotted in first-team training over the two weeks of pre-season, Moorhouse was always likely to be on the cards for a loan.

Now, Nathan Salt has tweeted to reveal potential destinations for the 19-year-old.

The Daily Mail journalist claims that Leyton Orient have expressed an interest in signing Moorhouse on loan this summer. This move would see him link up with United academy graduate Demetri Mitchell.

However, Orient is not the only interested party, with Huddersfield also keen on United’s exciting midfielder. Lee Grant currently manages Huddersfield, and so there would be another United link for Moorhouse, with Jose Mourinho signing Grant back in 2018.

Good track record with loan players. Huddersfield also remain keen. No decision made yet #lofc #htfc #mufc

It is pointed out that there has been no decision made yet, but a loan is on the cards.

Moorhouse can be a late bloomer for Manchester United

It is no shock that a loan is now being lined up, with Moorhouse attracting interest from the EFL as early as April, and now they are making their move.

Moorhouse was on the bench for United’s first team last season a number of times, but we never got the feeling that a debut was on the cards.

Due to how much time he missed through injury, there is a lot of development left for the teenager to do, and a well-placed loan could be transformational for his career.

Not all players are ready at 19, and Moorhouse has the qualities and skillset to become a Premier League player in the future, but he will be a late bloomer if this is to happen, though such like Cole Palmer, who came good at 21.

However, for Moorhouse, he looks to be below Jack Fletcher and others in the pecking order and should therefore be delighted to head on loan and grab the opportunity with both hands.
