HE’S JUST A MULTI-TALENTED INDIVIDUAL. FOR UNITED WAY MONTERY COUNTY HE IS A TREASURED ANNUAL TRADITON HE HAS HELPED US RAISE MONEY AND INSPIRE HOPE. JUST ONE OF THE MANY TIMES DAN HAS BEEN HONORED FOR HIS WORK WITH NON PROFITS. DAN HAD SEVERAL CO-ANCHORS, ESPECIALLY IN THE EARLY YEARS…HE HAD A FRONT ROW SEAT FOR THE DINA AND CLINT EASTWOOD ROMANCE… BUT FOR MOST OF HIS THRITY YEARS AT KSBW…DAN HAS BEEN STUCK WITH ME AS HIS PARTNER IN NEWS…….FROM 9-11 COVERAGE SO MANY YEARS AGO…. POP 9-11 COVERAGE, TO NATIONAL CRISIS…, TO WILDFIRES TO FLOODS….. HE HAS ALWAYS BEEN A STEADY REASSURING VOICE…DOING HIS BEST WORK WHEN IT COUNTED THE MOST…. I’VE HAD THE PRIVILEDGE OF SEEING THAT UP CLOSE…..HE IS A BROADCASTER’S BROADCASTER……AND HE TAKES THAT RESPONSIBILITY SERIOUSLY….FROM GUIDING THE CENTRAL COAST THROUGH A CRISIS….TO DELIVERING THE NEWS EACH NIGHT…TO MAKING US LAUGH …..HE IS ONE OF A KIND… I’M SO PROUD THAT HE IS A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY. Cassady Valasco, KSBW’s news director, reflected on Green’s career, saying, “Really passionate about local news, and he has remained that way for the entire thirty years. Incredibly dedicated to the craft, and the man has done it all. He’s done AM radio, he’s been a news director. To have somebody with his journalistic background come in here and stay here for 30 years. It’s been incredible.”Jim Vanderzwaan, former KSBW lead forecaster, praised Green’s versatility, noting, “The only person who ever got in front of the board to do weather when one of my subs missed his call on Friday night. And in the floods, he went out in the pouring rain with a live truck all by himself. Set up the camera. Set up the whole thing and did live shots. Who else could do that? He’s just a multi-talented individual.”Green’s signature animal stories have become a local favorite, with viewer Janet Whitchurch saying, “I’m just laughing thinking about it. As a signature, it’s a good one. It’s all him.” She added, “It’s kind of whacky, but he also takes it seriously, and sometimes there are serious animal stories.
