CHICO, Calif. — Construction on the new Beyond Golf course in Chico is nearly finished.
The president of Beyond Golf said the course is 99% complete, with only a temporary parking lot and an access road to the Esplanade left to build.
The president of beyond golf said the city is requiring a temporary chip-sealed surface for the parking lot.
Organizers said they are exploring alternatives while waiting for drier weather.
Co-owner Justin Bonneau said the project is a dream come true.
“I feel very blessed and fortunate,” he said. “To be a part of the community and bring this to the kids and the people of Chico is a dream come true.”
A permanent parking lot will be installed later. Crews are currently completing final touches on the course.
Construction on Beyond Golf began in October of last year. Once this phase is done, developers plan to add a restaurant, an indoor simulator, and an 18-hole putting course.
Co-owner Justin Bonneau said crews recently finished laying sod, which will take about a month to root into the soil.
“We have all the grass laid and that’s all growing in and starting to take,” Bonneau said. “We planted fescue seed all around where you see open dirt, so that will fill in with grass. We planted 55 trees out here, so those will grow and fill in the course nicely.”
Work on the lake is also wrapping up, with coloring and fish added.
Netting around the course is expected to be installed within the next month.
A food trailer will operate at the site and serve alcohol once the course opens.
