One of the biggest games on the Big Ten conference schedule will be center stage for the college football world as No. 7 Indiana travels west to take on No. 3 Oregon. The top-10 tilt is set to play a huge role in the Big Ten title race, as the Ducks recently knocked out another contender with its win at Penn State and the Hoosiers claimed an early quality win with their 63-10 thrashing of Illinois.Â
The game also happens to feature two of the top quarterbacks in the sport right now. While the preseason hype was focused elsewhere, the first half of the season has produced results that have Oregon’s Dante Moore and Indiana’s Fernando Mendoza in the thick of all of the QB1 debates. Whether it’s All-America teams, the Heisman Trophy or even the 2026 NFL Draft, any discussion of the quarterback position has to include these two signal callers who have combined for 30 touchdowns and just two interceptions on the season.Â
It’s also a matchup of two of the top coaches on the rise, and though their track records and previous experience are far different, they have both made waves with fast starts at their current schools. According to CBS Sports research, this showdown between Dan Lanning and Curt Cignetti is just the third FBS meeting in the last 50 years between coaches with 85% winning percentages and at least 40 games coached. So while the talent on the field is generating plenty of discussion about who will emerge in an iron-sharpens-iron matchup, there too is plenty of intrigue in terms of who wins the coaching battle between these two rising stars.Â
The fact that this game is taking place in Autzen Stadium, one of the great home field environments in the sport, only adds to the excitement for what was already a huge top-10 stage. With College Football Playoff, Big Ten title race, Heisman Trophy implications and even some NFL Draft outlook, there’s no shortage of things to learn from this clash between the Ducks and the Hoosiers in Eugene.Â
