(KNSI) – The Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party will host a rally outside CentraCare – St. Cloud Hospital as part of a statewide effort to protest what party leaders say are Republican policies driving clinic closures and rising healthcare costs.
The rally will take place on the sidewalk outside the hospital on November 8th, with organizers encouraging participants to bring signs directed at Republican Whip Tom Emmer, who represents the district in the House of Representatives.
Participants are asked to meet on the sidewalk outside St. Cloud Hospital. Organizers will provide specific details about parking and the exact meeting location closer to the event.
The St. Cloud rally is one of 20 community-led events planned across Minnesota. DFL leaders, elected officials, local candidates, healthcare workers, and residents affected by clinic closures are expected to speak.
In recent months, the Mayo Clinic announced the closure of six medical centers in Belle Plaine, Caledonia, Montgomery, the Northridge Clinic in North Mankato, St. Peter and Wells. Allina Health says they’re closing four facilities in Inver Grove Heights, Maplewood, Nicollet Mall in Minneapolis and Oakdale.
