The MBCA Foundation will honor its roots at its annual gala Tuesday.
Gary Hill, the co-founder of the Metropolitan Business & Citizens Association, will be honored at 6 p.m. at Tropicana Atlantic City.
The community activist also co-founded the Schultz-Hill Foundation with partner, John Schultz.
This theme of the 34th annual Installation and Awards Gala is “The Best is Yet to Come!”
Hill was lauded for making Atlantic City a better place to live, work and visit while helping hundreds of students with scholarships, enhancing the arts community and investing in Atlantic City’s future over the last four decades.
As chairman of the Municipal Utility Authority and co-founder of the Miss’d America Pageant, Hill’s strongest asset is his amiable spirit and ability to bring everyone together for the betterment of South Jersey.
“The Best is Yet to Come” also offers somewhat of a passing of the torch.
Hill is looking forward to a “semi-retirement” that will see Co-Executive Director Scott Cronick assume more of Hill’s responsibilities.
But Hill will continue to be a major part of the MBCA Foundation moving forward.
Tuesday’s event will feature a lavish cocktail hour with cash bar, gourmet sit-down dinner, music by famed crooner Steven Maglio, a night reminiscing about Hill’s storied career and some surprises.
More than 500 people are expected to witness Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small Sr. install the Board of Directors, including new board members Aura Sanchez (Borgata), Toni Brooks (Golden Nugget) and Scott Brown (Brown & McCarthy Insurance Agency).
The MBCA Foundation board consists of representatives from various small and large businesses, nonprofits, educational institutions, residents and casino leaders.
The MBCA Foundation has various projects in the pipeline and donates to other charitable endeavors, including more than $30,000 in scholarships annually to students who commit to higher education.
Tickets, priced at $150 each, or a table of 11 for $1,500, are available at MBCANJ.com, where you can also learn more about the nonprofit organization.
