Khushi Kapoor, daughter of late superstar Sridevi and filmmaker Boney Kapoor, is once again in the social media spotlight, this time not for her films but for her father’s resurfaced interview. A clip from an old chat with film critic Komal Nahta has gone viral, where Boney proudly claimed that Khushi was admitted to the New York Film Academy on a full scholarship.

In the video, Boney said, “You know, Khushi was admitted to this New York Film Academy on scholarship. I didn’t have to pay the fees.” When asked how she received it, he added, “You send your audition to decide whether you can be admitted or not. And she was offered scholarship.”

While the remark sounded like a father sharing his pride, social media users didn’t take it kindly. The video quickly spread online, with many accusing Boney Kapoor of flaunting privilege and calling the claim “unbelievable.” Some even questioned whether star kids face the same audition standards as ordinary students.

The trolling follows a rough phase for Khushi’s acting career. She made her OTT debut in The Archies (2023) alongside Suhana Khan, Agastya Nanda, and Vedang Raina. Despite the hype, the film failed to connect with audiences. Her theatrical debut, Loveyapa, opposite Aamir Khan’s son Junaid Khan, showed some promise, but her next film Nadaaniyan with Ibrahim Ali Khan faced harsh criticism.

Several of Khushi’s emotional scenes from Nadaaniyan were turned into memes, with viewers calling her performance unconvincing. Yet, a few critics noted that her acting in Loveyapa displayed potential.

The resurfaced interview now adds another layer to her public scrutiny. Some users defended Boney, saying he only spoke like a proud parent, while others insisted such statements reflect how industry families often highlight “achievements” that may not mirror reality.

Despite the backlash, Khushi remains focused on her upcoming projects. For now, the debate around her film school admission has become another talking point in Bollywood’s ongoing conversation about privilege and opportunity.
