An officer was injured and multiple suspects remain at large following a police chase involving two vehicles in Pittsburgh Saturday morning. A spokesperson for Pittsburgh Police told Action News 4 that at 10 a.m., officials received a report of two stolen vehicles being driven within city limits. They say the cars drove into Zone 1 Police Station and were driven by “masked individuals who were honking their horns as they passed.” Officers later tracked the two vehicles at the intersection of Federal Street and Lafayette Avenue, the spokesperson said.As officers attempted to exit their patrol car, one of the suspect vehicles hit an officer and left the scene. We’re told the officer sustained “moderate head injuries” and drove themself to a nearby hospital. “That’s absolutely crazy,” said Mina Bray, who saw the scene on Federal Street. “I had my nephews, my young, six- and two-year-old nephews with me. So, it’s definitely concerning.”The chase went on through multiple city neighborhoods, including Mt. Oliver. Officials said one of the suspect vehicles was later spiked near the 10th Street Bridge, but was able to keep going. The vehicle then stopped along the Boulevard of the Allies and Grant Street in downtown, where multiple suspects were said to have left it. Four people were taken into custody from that vehicle. A second vehicle was later found abandoned along Brutus Way in Pittsburgh’s Sheraden neighborhood, according to Pittsburgh Public Safety officials. The vehicle was towed, and officials later confirmed it was involved in the incident. No suspects have been found. Action News 4 was on the scene, where multiple officers and SWAT officials could be seen blocking off the road to traffic. Police said charges are forthcoming and an investigation is ongoing.
