SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – The South Lake Tahoe Mayor, Tamara Wallace, has submitted her resignation to the City Clerk, Susan Blankenship. An email went out to the clerk, city manager, city attorney, and South Tahoe Now at 10:55 p.m. Monday, October 13, 2025.

In the email, Wallace said:

I am submitting my resignation to you, effective immediately. I urge Mayor Pro Tem Cody Bass to resign as well.

Tamara Wallace, Mayor, City of South Lake Tahoe

It has been just over one week since Wallace submitted a “Letter to the Editor” to South Tahoe Now, admitting to embezzling from her employer, Lake Tahoe Community Presbyterian Church, and attempting to commit suicide. The church’s attorney says the amount missing from the church is about $300,000.

The public calls for her resignation have been numerous across the community and social media. Two of her fellow city council members have taken their concerns to the public, one calling for her resignation and the other recognizing the strength of the City is within the community and that all would be worked out quickly. The embezzlement case is under investigation by the El Dorado County District Attorney’s Office.

Wallace urged Bass to resign as well. Just as the news was breaking about Wallace’s deeds, an altercation at Lake Tahoe AleWorx in Stateline came to light, leading to his arrest on three charges. The Douglas County DA dropped the assault charge but left the harassment and trespassing charges.

The next City Council meeting is Tuesday, October 21 at 9 a.m.
