Basketball fans don’t need to wait until the regular season to see a top-25 matchup. On October 24, BYU and North Carolina will meet for an exhibition game in Salt Lake City.
The game marks just the third-ever meeting between the two programs and the first since 2007.

In the AP preseason poll, the Cougars earned a No. 8 ranking while the Tar Heels just made the board at No. 25. Don’t let any preseason expectations fool you, though. Theses teams are going to battle as they find their footing this season.
For North Carolina, their biggest return is Seth Trimble, who averaged 11.6 points per game last year. They add top newcomers Caleb Wilson and Luka Bogavac while adding a handful of transfers.
The Cougars return scoring leader Richie Saunders (16.5 points per game), but their biggest roster addition is in freshman AJ Dybantsa, the No. 1 freshman in the country. The Massachusetts product is a 3x FIBA Gold Medalist and has made an impact on the BYU program before even putting on the jersey.
