Three-time champion Joey Logano usually shines during the NASCAR Cup Series playoffs. However, after a disappointing 20th-place finish in Charlotte last week, the Team Penske driver is feeling the pressure.

He started the 2025 South Point 400 at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway at the bottom of the pack among the eight remaining playoff drivers, trailing significantly behind William Byron in fourth place.

Logano has shown he can pull off wins during the Cup Series playoffs when it counts (as seen in 2024). But ahead of Las Vegas, the 35 year old confessed that he believes any of the competitors could take the title.

“I wouldn’t say there’s any surprises in the Round of 8 here,” he commented. “I think they’re all capable of winning the championship this year… every one of them. There’s none that are like, ‘Wow, I can’t believe this guy made it this far. That’s crazy.’

“You’ve got the best eight teams going for it. It’s gonna be a battle right to the end. I don’t see a clear favorite or clear like this person is gonna kill them all. It seems like it’s gonna be close all the way to the end.”

Despite already having three titles under his belt, Logano is eager for more. “Honestly, I don’t care how we get in. I don’t really care how we win the championship,” he stated.

“I just want to win. It’s about the big trophy at the end of the day. That’s all that matters.”

With 609 career races under his belt, Logano boasts 37 wins and 294 top 10 finishes.

He made history in 2008 as the youngest man to ever win a Cup Series race, which led him to snag the circuit’s Rookie of the Year award.

The victor of the 2015 Daytona 500, he has already been recognized as one of NASCAR’s 75 greatest drivers.

His performance in 2025 was less than stellar, with just one win (the Wurth’s 400, an early-season race at Texas Motor Speedway).

However, Logano’s form improved during the playoffs: he secured fifth place at Gateway, fourth in Bristol, and fourth in New Hampshire before slipping in Charlotte.

Logano remained a strong contender for the South Point 400 in Las Vegas, trailing Chase Briscoe by less than a second with fewer than 25 laps remaining.
