NASCAR fans are praying for Daniel Suarez and his family after his wife, mother and mother-in-law were involved in a bad wreck last week.

Suarez was in a competition meeting ahead of this past weekend’s race when he received news that his family was involved in a crash.

He spoke with NBC’s Dustin Long on Sunday and provided an update on how his family is doing, starting with his wife, Julia Piquet.

“First of all, I want to thank God for keeping them safe, because it was a very scary situation,“ Daniel Suarez said. ”I was in the middle of my competition meeting, actually, when I received the call. But luckily Julia is good, besides a few bruises and a couple of cuts on her head. She’s fine.”

Piquet’s mom is also doing well, Suarez said. However, his mom suffered some injuries from the crash.

“Her mom has a lot of bruises as well and a couple of little impacts. But she’s fine,” Suarez relayed. “My mom, from the back seat, got the worst end of it – bruises and cuts on her face and her collarbone broken, a few pieces.”

According to WCNC in Charlotte, Julia was waiting to make a left turn when she was rear-ended last week. Her SUV was then pushed into oncoming traffic, and she made contact with two additional cars.

Julia, her mother and Suarez’s mom were all taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Thankfully, no one else was injured during the crash and it appears as though Suarez’s family members will make a full recovery.

“She’s already had surgery a couple of days ago and she’s already recovering at home,” Suarez said of his mom. “I feel like we were pretty lucky that they had, to an extent, minor injuries.”

Prayers have been pouring in for Daniel Suarez and his family.

“My god, love and prayers to his mama as she heals from that break. Glad Julia and her mama faired as well as they did!” said one fan.

Another added: “Praise God that they are OK and are now home healing! And will be saying additional prayers for his mom that she heals well after sustaining the worst injuries.”

Daniel Suarez and Julia Piquet have been married since July of 2024.

They announced their marriage on social media at the time, with Suarez posting: “Married the love of my life.”

Piquet added: “Happiest day of our lives. Thank you to everyone who traveled from around the world to be with us on this incredible day.”

The 33-year-old Suarez was named the NASCAR Corona Series Rookie of the Year in 2010 and the NASCAR Xfinity Series Rookie of the Year in 2015.
