The majority of the world’s best golfers are currently taking a break from the PGA Tour but the clock is ticking for a handful of big names.

There are only four events left in the FedEx Cup Fall season and some notable players are in danger of losing their cards for the 2026 campaign. 

At the conclusion of the RSM Classic in November, the top 100 players (down from 125) will earn fully exempt status. 

You might be familiar with a few who are currently outside the magic number.

Michael Thorbjornsen (72)

The 2024 PGA Tour University winner has had his first crack on golf’s biggest stage this year. Leaped 18 spots after his good finish at the Baycurrent Classic this week. 

Nicolai Hojgaard (80)

Had a poor start to the season, missing four cuts in a row from The Players Championship in March – but will need to finish off his campaign strong. His twin brother Rasmus, who made his Ryder Cup debut in September, is 74th overall. 

Matt Wallace (93)

The Englishman poured everything into trying to make the European Ryder Cup team but fell agonisingly short once again. Now, he’ll turn his attention to retaining his PGA Tour card. Wallace was exempt through 2025 owing to his victory at the Corales Puntacana Championship. There is essentially no margin of error now for Wallace.

Tom Kim (94)

Kim, linked with LIV Golf, has struggled to find his best stuff this season. While he has made 17 cuts from 26 starts, Kim has only finished in the top-10 once. His driving accuracy isn’t terrible by any stretch of the imagination (80th overall) but his other stats paint an alarming picture. 

Joel Dahmen (103)

Fan-favourite Dahmen has been out of sorts again this year. His form led Dahmen to make the tough decision to part ways with his long-time caddie Geno Bonnalie. How things might have looked had Dahmen not blown a three-shot lead down the stretch at the Corales Puntacana Championship. Now he’s languishing in 103rd.

Matt Kuchar (114)

Kept his card finishing 109th last term. Now, the multiple PGA Tour winner faces an uphill battle once again.

Harry Higgs (118)

Another fan-favourite, best-known for whipping the crowd into a frenzy with the aforementioned Dahmen at the WM Phoenix Open in 2022. Won back his card in 2023, but now needs results to go his way. 

Adam Hadwin (143)

Few would have predicted the Canadian would have only made 14 cuts this season and finished in the top-10 only once. This is a critical period for his career…
