Google can throw around all the marketing jargon to hype up the durability of its Pixel 10 Pro Fold, but when the device is in the hands of YouTuber JerryRigEverything, that is when a company’s claims are put to the real test. Unfortunately, not only does the foldable flagship’s battery catch fire, but the Mountain View behemoth has yet to tackle a major structural flaw that can potentially result in these smartphones breaking after just a couple of years of use.
The original Pixel Fold and Pixel 9 Pro Fold broke from the exact same antenna lines, and after performing various durability tests on the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, Zach from JerryRigEverything finds out that Google has yet to mend its ways because its latest foldable flagship suffers the same catastrophic structural failure. Sadly, the company has added a cherry on top, and not in a good way.
While you can check out how the YouTuber debunked Google’s other claims, such as being dust-proof, we can confidently state that the part that the majority of readers want to see is where the Pixel 10 Pro Fold catches fire. Upon snapping the device in half effortlessly despite Google calling it the most durable smartphone in this category, the YouTuber attempts to bend it in reverse, and he would likely have succeeded if smoke had not started coming from the punctured battery.

You can clearly see that the Pixel 10 Pro Fold gets engulfed in flames, which is enough to set off the fire alarm in the video. The YouTuber has been performing durability tests on smartphones for a decade, but he says that this is the first time that a device has caught fire in any one of his videos. Given that JerryRigEverything is approaching 10 million subscribers on his channel, the part where the Pixel 10 Pro Fold goes up in smoke is likely to catch traction, forcing Google to draft some kind of statement in the near future.
For now, the YouTuber has said that his durability tests are on the extreme side, and jokingly remarks not to place an unfolded Pixel 10 Pro Fold inside your pocket. While exploding smartphone batteries are a rarity, we hope Google changes the antenna line placements to improve the durability of its foldable handsets moving forward.
