Daniel: How big of a loss would Elliot Anderson be to Nottingham Forest? Do you think it’ll be more than Morgan Gibbs-White would’ve been last summer? I think so…
Elliot Anderson has been one of Nottingham Forest’s outstanding players since he joined from Newcastle last summer.
Nikola Milenkovic won the club’s Player of the Year award last term but Anderson pushed him close and has already won Forest’s Player of the Month award twice this season.
He has missed just one league game since moving to the City Ground, drives Forest both defensively and going forward, and is one of the players who has adapted quickly to what Ange Postecoglou requires.
Anderson also played the full 90 minutes in England’s win over Latvia on Tuesday, while Morgan Gibbs-White stayed on the bench. Anderson completed 115 passes in the opposition half, compared to just 66 made by the entire Latvia team in England’s half.
He has won 56.4% of his ground duels and 57.9% of his aerial ones, the highest of anyone who has played every Premier League game for Nottingham Forest this season.
Gibbs-White remains crucial but Ange Postecoglou has refused to put a ceiling on Anderson, whose trajectory has been a surprise. He is vital and a player that can dig the club and Postecoglou out of trouble.
