The massive 13,000-sq-ft, two-story studio features a LED regulation half court and hoop

With the first-ever NBA on Prime broadcast set for next Friday, Amazon Prime Video pulled the back the curtain on its new state-of-the-art studio facility this week. Located at Amazon MGM Studios in Culver City, CA, the massive 13,000-sq.-ft., two-story studio features a LED regulation half court/hoop surrounded by 2,300 LED tiles to create an immersive experience for viewers.

A Feast for the Eyes: LED Court, Hoop, and Wrapped Monitor Wall

Designed to transcend the concept of a traditional TV set and bring fans closer to the game, the 1080p HDR NBA on Prime studio features a dynamic landscape for premiere NBA coverage.

The studio’s LED regulation half court and basketball hoop is the largest high-resolution studio floor in America and will be a technical and cultural centerpiece of the NBA on Prime studio show to be used for analyst demonstrations and more.

Each level of the studio serves a specific purpose for NBA on Prime studio programming. The main anchor desk will be used for the pregame show and shot from the second level mezzanine of the multilevel set, ensuring depth and constant view of the court. The lounge area on the ground floor used primarily for the NBA Nightcap postgame show will curate an inviting atmosphere making viewers feel at home with the NBA on Prime team as they interview guests and dive into deep analysis of the game.

The studio will be wrapped in an LED medium comprised of 2,300 individual tiles containing approximately 3 billion pixels. These screens cover walls, floors, and dedicated display areas throughout the facility. The entire environment—including a regulation half-court basketball area—can instantly transform to show different NBA arenas, city skylines, or data visualizations.

The studio’s 22-camera complement includes 10 cinematic-style broadcast cameras with large sensors capable of shallow depth of field looks, as well as cameras behind the basket, on the court, and more.
