LOS ANGELES — The Milwaukee Brewers can’t seem to buy a run. And when you’re playing the second-richest team in baseball, that’s going to cost you.

The Brewers dropped a third game in a row to the Los Angeles Dodgers on Thursday, 3-1, putting them on the brink of elimination. The Brewers’ only run came from an RBI single by Jake Bauers in the 2nd inning.

All-Star rookie Jacob Misiorowski was credited with the loss, a truly unfair fate for a man that pitched 5 innings and allowed only 1 earned run on 3 hits. He set a record for most strikeouts by a Brewers rookie pitcher in a single postseason game with 9.

As the scoreline suggests, the Brewers’ batters were mostly uninspiring. Christian Yelich struck out 3 times, and the Brewers as a team struck out 12 times.

The loss means that Friday’s game is all-or-nothing for the Crew. They’ll have to win the next four games in a row to advance to the World Series.

Friday’s game is scheduled for 7:38 p.m. CT, and three-time MVP Shohei Ohtani is set to start for the Dodgers.
