Following-up on something that I first reported back on 10/12 (D3 DIRT). Stevenson has made the hiring of Jack Bors official – here’s the press release from the school:

Stevenson University Director of Athletics, Jordan Hoover, announced the hiring of Jack Bors as the next Head Men’s Basketball Coach for the Mustangs. Bors joins Stevenson following three seasons as an assistant coach at Catholic University, bringing with him a proven record of player development, recruiting success, and competitive achievement.

“We are thrilled to welcome Jack Bors to the Stevenson Athletics family,” said Hoover. “Jack’s ability to quickly build strong relationships, and his commitment to the development of our student-athletes was apparent throughout the search process. His leadership, vision, and drive for competitive excellence both on and off the court align perfectly with our vision of Mustang Athletics. I am incredibly excited for the next chapter of Mustangs’ basketball under Jack’s guidance.”

While at Catholic, Bors played a key role in the Cardinals’ continued success within the Landmark Conference, overseeing player skill development, opponent scouting, and practice and game planning. Prior to his time at Catholic, Bors spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Ursinus College, helping guide the Bears to the Centennial Conference semifinals. During his tenure, Ursinus notched several statement wins, including a 95–86 road victory over No. 17 Swarthmore and a quarterfinal win over Dickinson.

Bors’ coaching experience also includes mentoring multiple standout performers — including two All-Conference selections, one All-District honoree, one Second Team All-Region, and a 1,000-point scorer — while emphasizing culture, accountability, and leadership development within his programs.

Before beginning his coaching career, Bors was a four-year member of the men’s basketball team at Bowdoin College. A consistent offensive contributor, he tallied several standout performances, including a 20-point outing versus Colby as a freshman and a 15-point effort in Bowdoin’s upset of No. 7 Babson during his junior season. Bors served as team captain during his senior campaign. Bors graduated from Bowdoin College with a degree in economics.

Bors will make his coaching debut in the Owings Mills Gymnasium on Friday, November 7 at 7:00 p.m. against Goucher.
