Oskar Olausson’s tenure with the San Jose Sharks organization didn’t last long. The former Avalanche forward was dealt to the Minnesota Wild on Friday in exchange for defenseman Kyle Masters.
Olausson will report to the AHL’s Iowa Wild.

The Avs dealt Olausson in July after four years of trying to develop him into an NHL regular. The 2021 first-round draft pick, who was selected No. 27 overall, never quite found his footing in Colorado. He also wasn’t much of a factor for the AHL Eagles, topping out with a career-high of 26 points in 61 games in 2024-25.
With the Avs, Olausson played four games in three years and averaged 8:07 of ice time.
Colorado sent him to San Jose in a one-for-one trade for Danil Gushchin on July 25. Gushchin has two goals in two games in the AHL so far, while Olausson has not yet dressed in a game this season.
