Lexie Hull found herself as one of the lone healthy guards remaining on the Indiana Fever’s opening-season roster after a handful of season-ending injuries to players like Caitlin Clark, Sophie Cunningham, Sydney Colson and Aari McDonald.
The guard played a pivotal role in helping the Fever overcome those injuries and finish with a franchise-record 24 wins while coming just one game away from the WNBA Finals.

Following the season, Hull took to social media and left fans wondering if she was coming back next season. “Smiling through it all because I LOVE my job!! thankful for year 4! this group was a special one,” said Hull, who is a free agent, in a post on Instagram.

Fast forward a little over a week and Hull is back in the headlines – this time thanks to a recent appearance at her alma mater: Stanford. The former Cardinal star and No. 6 overall pick in the 2022 WNBA draft spoke with the women’s basketball team and offered her advice for the current players.

“I would say just enjoy this. From people that have played professionally, you don’t get this…time with best friends in an environment like this where you’re together so much. Enjoy practice, enjoy training tables,” Hull told the current players.
“Enjoy it all, these four years, five years, if you get six, whatever, these are the most fun years you’ll truly have playing basketball. So enjoy this, take advantage of it…you have a lot of potential, a lot of upside and just know that you have an entire sisterhood rooting and cheering for you guys and supporting you from afar. So just grateful for this gift to be able to come back.”

The post from Stanford’s basketball team racked up nearly 3,000 likes and a healthy amount of comments. Easily the most-liked comment came from Hull’s Fever teammate, Caitlin Clark, who offered a message for the free agent point guard.
“Real inspiring Lexie,” Clark joked. Her comment received 23 likes in less than an hour.
