The five-time major winner had a solid week in New Delhi but carded too many bogeys to ever truly get in contention for victory.

Despite not reaching the top of the leaderboard, McIlroy has still be thrilling fans in South Asia.

By teeing it up at Delhi Golf Club, McIlroy became the first reigning Masters champion to visit India.

But his victorious Green Jacket had been conspicuous with its absence so far this week.

That changed on Saturday night when McIlroy attended a special Q&A with the fans in New Delhi.

As the crowds gathered, the MC introduced ‘the one and only’ McIlroy and he made his way out onto the stage donned in his famous Masters suit.

It’s the first time Indian fans have got to see a winning Green Jacket, with McIlroy continuing to grow the game around the world.

The 36-year-old shot a finishing round of 71 to end the week at 11-under-par and in a tie for 25th.

He shot four birdies and three bogeys on Sunday but the biggest highlight came with a par on the seventh hole.

On the 180 yard par 3, McIlroy pushed his tee shot into the front right bunker and his ball plugged in the sand.

The tricky lie meant he could only gouge it out, flying the ball some 45 foot past the pin.

But McIlroy wasn’t about to settle for a four and instead drained his putt from downtown to secure a memorable up and down.

McIlroy is still in control of the Race to Dubai as he eyes his seventh Order of Merit title in Europe this season.

He will next be in action at the DP World Tour play-off events next month.

He’ll tee it up at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship at Yas Links on November 6 before heading to the DP World Tour Championship at Jumeirah Golf Estates a week later.

McIlroy will be eyeing a big finish to a remarkable year.
