Ty Schlagel, the No. 117 overall recruit in the class of 2027, has committed to Nebraska, he tells 247Sports.

The 6-foot-5 small forward out of Saint Paul (Minn.) Cretin Derham Hall picked the Cornhuskers over Minnesota and Wisconsin amongst others.

“I picked Nebraska because I believe they have a great coaching staff and program who will help me become the best player I can be,” he said of his decision.

Schlagel is the first commitment for Nebraska in the junior class, bringing in a slashing wing with positional size, skill and IQ.

“What stood about to me about the staff is how wanted they made me feel at the school,” he added. “As well as the coaches seemed like great people who care about their players.”

Playing with Howard Pulley on the Nike EYBL U16 Circuit this summer, Schlagel averaged 17.0 PPG, 1.0 APG and 7.5 RPG.

“I think Im bringing a player who is versatile and can play and score anywhere on the court,” Schlagel concluded. “As well as a player who hustles and plays hard defense.”

Schlagel is just the fifth recruit in the class of 2027 to make a college decision.
