Two people were killed after being hit by a bus at a busy intersection in Indiana Borough Monday afternoon. In a release from the Indiana Borough Police Department, officials were called to the intersection of Philadelphia Street and Seventh Street following reports of a pedestrian versus vehicle crash. The incident was reported around 2 p.m. Police said an IndiGO bus hit two people as they were crossing the road at the intersection. Their identities have not been released. The release said it is unclear if the pedestrian crossing sign was on or if the traffic light had turned green at the time the incident took place. An investigation remains active. The incident comes months after one person was injured and another was killed after being hit by a delivery truck as it turned onto the 800 block of Philadelphia Street back in March.Indiana Borough officials said in the release Monday that the investigation into the March. crash is nearing its end and that both incidents are unacceptable. “We are at our best when we can be proactive to prevent crashes and crime, but we are also committed to conducting thorough and professional investigations in pursuit of justice when neither is avoided,” the release said. “As I said in March, our mission is to enhance the quality of life of everyone we serve — so one crash is too many and any loss of life is unacceptable to us.” Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 reached out to IndiGO for more information on Monday’s incident, who said they were unable to provide comment due to the ongoing investigation.
