CHEYENNE, Wyo. — The Wyoming Highway Patrol recently announced that the State Capitol Building in Cheyenne has been evacuated.

That’s according to a social media post from the WHP, which states that it is investigating “an ongoing situation” at the State Capitol.

“Right now, we are investigating an ongoing incident at the Capitol,” Aaron Brown, public information officer with the Wyoming Highway Patrol, told Oil City News. “We had a report of a possible IED. We evacuated the Capitol building and we are asking people to avoid the area as we investigate.”

Brown emphasized that the report is of a suspected IED and that nothing has been confirmed as of this writing.

“No confirmation of an actual IED just yet,” Brown said. “It’s simply suspected at the moment.”

Oil City News will continue to monitor this situation and will update this story with more information as it becomes available.
