Did Bill Belichick trade his Carolina blues for a better shade of Duke?

No, but some UNC fans were caught off guard after seeing the latest headline in the Duke Chronicle.
“Bill Belichick to become Duke assistant coach after dropping UNC” was hot off the press and added a bit of satire in the sad situation playing out in Chapel Hill.
At this point, Duke would likely not want Belichick. Not because he’s at UNC but because of how far the Tar Heels have fallen in the college football ranks. We’re approaching the final month of the regular season, and the former six-time Super Bowl-winning coach is without a conference win in his debut year.
The on-field struggles and the tabloid-style drama have created unwanted controversy for the school, which thought that making a big-name hire would change the program overnight.

The piece captured the tone of Belichick perfectly.
“I just really miss winning,” the satirical article claims Belichick said. “I’m excited to announce that I’ll be taking on the role of assistant football coach at Duke, a job I’ve wanted for a long time.”

UNC football has been the butt of plenty of jokes this season. The Duke pile-on is the latest, but perhaps the biggest yet was a message on Cal’s jumbotron. After the 21-18 loss last Friday, the Golden Bears’ production team trolled Belichick and UNC AD Bubba Cunningham.

“I am fully committed to Cal Athletics and the program we are building here. Why do you ask?” the mascot, Oski, is attributed to saying.
“‘Oski has our full support, no really, we mean it, why else would we make this statement?,” Cal executives responded.
This was a clear jab after news leaked about UNC and Belichick exploring an exit strategy.
The rivalry between the Blue Devils and Tar Heels enters a new chapter on Nov. 22 in Chapel Hill.
