ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A man is in jail after having to hand over the clothes he is accused of stealing during an alleged break-in at the Buffalo Exchange in Albuquerque.
Police arrested Matthew Robertson for allegedly going through the ceiling to break into the store early Wednesday morning.
An APD officer responded to an alarm activation at the store on Central Avenue, just east of Girard Boulevard. The officer arrived and found a broken ventilation shaft. They also saw a suspect inside, allegedly holding merchandise and trying to leave through the back door.
After being called in for support, a K9 unit apprehended the suspect – identified as Robertson.

Robertson was booked into the Metropolitan Detention Center on charges of commercial burglary – and criminal damage to property exceeding $1,000.
According to APD, they recovered the stolen merchandise. KOB 4 captured video showing the suspect taking off and handing over clothes while police apprehended him.
According to court documents, Robertson was arrested for breaking into the Wing Firearms and Pawn in 2018. Documents show he also allegedly broke in through the ceiling in that case.
KOB 4 also learned the store was open Wednesday.
