This is the game plan. Obliterate the opponent for 45 minutes then ping it around for the next 45 minutes to conserve energy and control the match. Second half goals will be luxuries but not required.Michael Olise is struggling to find rapport on overlapping runs with any right-back who isn’t Konrad Laimer. On the bright side, Luis Díaz is thriving with Laimer next to him. It will be a blessing when Josip Stanišić and Alphonso Davies return to left-back and Laimer can help Olise get his groove back.Complete performance from Lennart Karl in his first Champions League start. Vincent Kompany’s staff is integrating him at the right pace.
Bayern will have a quick three-day turnaround, playing on the road this upcoming Saturday against Borussia Mönchengladbach.

Lennart Karl is absolutely stunning and fearless. Bayern fans already love him. More goals and highlights like these will generate the “Messi” comparisons from the media and outsiders. Most importantly, other Bayern players are constantly searching for him because they already know he will do something spectacular with every touch. Michael Olise looks even more creative next to Karl, refusing to be outshined by the teenage sensation.Aleksandar Pavlović finally looks comfortable rotating around Joshua Kimmich. Pavlović was in perpetual motion to open up the defense and keep the ball flowing.Konrad Laimer’s work rate and soccer IQ are both outrageously high. What a gift he has been. That was a hectic first half. Both teams will want to slow down the pace in the second half. Bayern will need to stay sharp in the back and in transition to keep the clean sheet.Real Madrid 0-0 JuventusEintracht Frankfurt 1-3 LiverpoolMonaco 0-0 TottenhamSporting CP 0-1 MarseilleChelsea 4-1 AjaxAtalanta 0-0 Slavia PrahaAthletic Club 3-1 Qarabağ (final)Galatasaray 3-1 Bodø/Glimt (final)
HT: Bayern up 3-0 at the break.
34’: GOOOAAALLL! Bayern up 3-0. Luis Díaz’s quick combination play with Konrad Laimer ends with Díaz blasting a shot straight past the goalkeeper.
14’: GOOOAAALLL! Bayern up 2-0. Konrad Laimer easily finds Harry Kane all by himself on the back side.
10’: Aleksandar Pavlović curls a one-timer from the top of the box but is robbed by the goalkeeper and the inside of the post.
5’: GOOOAAALLL! Bayern up 1-0. Lennart Karl’s beats the entire defense with fantastic dribbling and a well-placed shot.
1’: LET’S GOOOOOOOOOO!!!
Sitting comfortably in first place in both the Bundesliga and the Champions League to start the week, Bayern Munich will host Club Brugge from Belgium. Bayern is the only remaining team in Europe with a 100% win rate. Over the weekend, Bayern survived a tough match against Borussia Dortmund in Der Klassiker but survived with a 2-1 victory.
Bayern and Club Brugge have only played two competitive matches, both in the 2005/06 Champions League group stage. Bayern won the home match 1-0 but Club Brugge gritted out a 1-1 draw in the second match.
Thanks to the Belgian club’s domestic performances, Club Brugge has become an annual participant in European competitions. Touting a 4-1 win over Monaco and a close 2-1 loss at Atalanta, the Belgians will be gunning for a big upset over the German giants.
Odds: Bayern (-455), Draw (+500), Club Brugge (+1100)
Prediction: Bayern wins, 3-1. Harry Kane will score a brace in the first half to electrify the home crowd, including a banger from outside the box. Club Brugge will claw back a goal in 65th minute but Kane will complete the hat trick with a penalty kick to close it out.
