Two aircraft belonging to the Russian military crossed the border and entered the airspace of NATO member Lithuania for 18 seconds, the country’s army said.
The aircraft, a fighter jet and a tanker, flew 700 meters (nearly half a mile) into Lithuania from the Kaliningrad region, possibly due to being on a refuelling training mission.
Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda said in a post on X that Vilnius’ foreign ministry would summon Russian embassy representatives to protest the violation.
