After sneaking away with a season-opening win against the Houston Rockets on Tuesday, the Oklahoma City Thunder will turn around to face the Indiana Pacers – the team they beat in last season’s NBA Finals.

The Thunder will continue to lean on top players Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Chet Holmgren while Jalen Williams continues to recover from the offseason wrist surgery he underwent during the offseason.
Oklahoma City will be playing with a lot less depth than usual for the matchup, as Alex Caruso (concussion) and Isaiah Joe (knee) won’t be in action. In addition, the Thunder could be without two other role players for the contest.
Lu Dort and Cason Wallace listed as questionable vs. Pacers
A pregame injury report was released before the Finals rematch. Lu Dort (ankle) and Cason Wallace (knee) were two names that were added to the list. They are both questionable for the game and will be game-time decisions.

Lu Dort is the Thunder’s defensive anchor who has been taking on much of Oklahoma City’s toughest matchups over the years. He was voted to the NBA’s All-Defensive First Team in 2024-25. On opening night, Dort struggled to find his shot (six points, 2-12 from the field), but added support in other aspects, finishing with six rebounds and five assists.
Cason Wallace started on opening night and kept the momentum he had from the Thunder’s championship run last season. In the win against the Rockets, he contributed both on the defensive and offensive side, finishing with 14 points, seven rebounds, five assists, and a team-high four steals.
Oklahoma City might have to dig deeper into its bench for Thursday’s matchup, possibly relying more heavily on players like Jaylin Williams and Aaron Wiggins in their pursuit of starting the season with back-to-back wins.
