Manchester United’s squad has underperformed over the past 18 months, but no player has seen as big a fall as Manuel Ugarte.
Signed from PSG, many assumed Manuel Ugarte would be the dominant ball-winning midfielder that Manchester United had been missing for years.
However, after his first campaign at the club, Ugarte was rated United’s worst signing of 2024/25, as he struggled to adapt to the increased intensity and pressure in the Premier League.

Ugarte was tipped for a big improvement this season, having had time to adapt. However, nine games into the season and Ugarte has also struggled this campaign, with Casemiro undeniably ahead of him in the pecking order.
Now, Ugarte’s transfer value has taken a big hit.

The performances of Ugarte at Manchester United have left a lot to be desired over the past two seasons.
As a result, Ugarte is already expected to be sold, with Serie A sides showing interest, a move which would be very beneficial for the Uruguay international.
Due to Ugarte’s struggles, his transfer value has been slashed according to Transfermarkt’s latest update.
Ugarte sees his value drop from £39m to £30m since July, furthering the drop from the £43m value he had when United purchased him for that exact price.
This is the sharpest decline Ugarte has had at United, and it should have Ineos concerned.
As he continues to flop, United might wish they had sold Ugarte over the summer, as that was likely the best chance to recoup the money spent.
If Ugarte’s campaign continues as it is heading, he could be worth even less come next summer.
Manuel Ugarte has the highest price drop at Manchester United
An £8m drop is the largest of any United player for the latest value update; however, Ugarte is not alone.
Six United players have seen their values drop to varying degrees.
Ugarte – £8m drop – £30m valueLisandro Martinez – £4.3m drop – £30m valueAmad – £4.3m drop – £34m valueKobbie Mainoo – £4.3m drop – £39m valueBruno Fernandes – £4.3m drop – £39m valueJoshua Zirkzee – £1.7m drop – £24m value
Ugarte tops the list, however, United will also be concerned about Fernandes’ value, with a big sale next summer looking like it will be priced less and less.
Another worry will be Mainoo, who simply needs games to bring his value back up.
